Evotix Assure alternatives for UK health and safety teams
Evotix Assure is a serious EHS platform, so an alternative should be judged against the work your organisation needs to run, not against a generic feature list. Evotix now presents its mid-market offer as Evotix Professional, built on the Assure platform. Its official product page describes incident and near-miss management, risk registers and assessments, audits and inspections, training records, actions, dashboards and mobile-first workflows. If those are your core processes, make each shortlisted supplier demonstrate them with the same sample data and user roles.
This is a buyer's guide based on publicly available vendor material checked 6 October 2026, not a product test or a claim that any alternative is objectively better. Evotix bundles and names can change. The exact modules, implementation work, integrations and price are contractual matters. Complys publishes this guide and is one possible choice; its current implementation must be checked before any claimed workflow is used in a buying decision. Software supports a health and safety system. It does not discharge an employer's legal duties or turn an uploaded document into a safe workplace.
Why buyers look beyond Assure
An organisation may need a different fit because of business size, scope, deployment effort, cost model, sector emphasis or the way people actually report events. These are questions to test, not assertions that Assure has a defect. Evotix's own page positions Professional for mid-market teams and describes simplified deployment and everyday engagement. Its UK Stockport Homes case study shows a modular adoption path from risk and audit to incidents, people and contractors. That may suit a multi-site organisation that wants configurable, joined EHS processes. A smaller contractor may place more value on RAMS, worker tickets, subcontractor evidence and short setup. A retailer may care most about store incidents, audits and fast escalation. The shortlist should follow those jobs.
Alternatives by operating model
| Operating model | Candidate | Where to test fit |
|---|---|---|
| Broad EHS management | Evotix Assure/Professional | Incidents, risk, audits, training, action ownership, cross-site reporting and configuration. Check exact contracted modules. |
| Operational compliance across a working business | Complys | Its UK comparison guide describes RAMS, risk assessments, worker/training records, contractor documents, expiries and site evidence. Verify every needed feature in the live product, particularly permissions, audit trail and sector-specific workflows. |
| Dedicated construction RAMS | HandsHQ or swiftRMS | If the principal task is producing and revising site-specific risk assessments and method statements, a specialist may be preferable. Check how wider incidents, training and contractors are handled elsewhere. |
| Inspection-led operations | SafetyCulture | If the first need is mobile inspections and findings, test action closure, incident investigation, risk registers and how the data reaches other systems. |
| Existing enterprise platform | An established EHS or GRC system | If the organisation already runs an enterprise platform, compare configuration and integration cost against adding another EHS application. |
These are shortlist categories, not a feature ranking or a claim of parity. Public Complys pages contain broad capability statements, but publication needs a current implementation check. Do not infer that Complys duplicates Evotix's configuration, analytics, mobile behaviour or enterprise controls. Conversely, do not infer that an enterprise EHS platform provides a construction RAMS builder simply because it offers risk assessments.
Use one scenario in every demonstration
Give vendors the same example: a worker reports a near miss at a second site. The supervisor records the event, assesses immediate controls, assigns an action, checks whether similar hazards have been found elsewhere, and reports progress to a manager. The manager then asks for the risk assessment, training evidence, previous inspection, decisions and a complete change history. Require the vendor to show each step as a normal worker, supervisor and central administrator.
Reporting at the point of work
How many steps does it take to record the event on a phone? Can a worker report without seeing confidential records? Can the system capture photos and location without collecting unnecessary personal data? What happens when connectivity is poor? Evotix advertises mobile-first capture. For an alternative, ask for a live demonstration; “mobile access” does not establish offline operation or usable role permissions.
Investigation and action ownership
Can the supervisor distinguish the immediate safety response from a later investigation? Can they record contributory factors, evidence, an owner and a due date? Does the system escalate overdue work without treating closure as a tick-box? Can a competent reviewer verify that the control is effective? Evotix describes incident investigation and corrective action follow-through. Require any alternative to show the same level of accountability if it is important to you.
Risk assessments and audit findings
Ask how an inspection finding changes the relevant risk assessment and how an assessor is alerted to review it. Do previous versions remain available? Can a manager distinguish a missed inspection from a completed inspection with an unresolved finding? A dashboard total is less valuable than a traceable chain from observation to decision to correction.
Training and contractor evidence
Can the buyer assign required competence by role, site and work type, then show who checked the evidence? What happens when a certificate expires or a subcontractor changes personnel? Evotix describes training management in its Professional offer and case studies show contractor modules in some deployments. Complys publicly describes training and contractor records. The buyer should ask both vendors to demonstrate the current contracted workflow, including restrictions and data export.
Reporting, privacy and auditability
Try a report across sites, then filter to one business unit. Can the manager trace each chart number to source records? Is a correction distinguishable from deletion? Can access be limited for occupational health or sensitive incident information? UK GDPR and employment confidentiality are real constraints; do not accept “all records in one place” without a precise access-control model and retention rules. Review security, hosting, processor terms and subprocessor arrangements with procurement and data-protection colleagues.
How to compare cost fairly
Request written proposals using one scope: entities, locations, workers, contractor users, administrator users, incident/risk/audit/training modules, configuration, data migration, forms, integrations, mobile access, support, training, storage, export and termination. Ask what changes the fee when sites or users grow. A published starting price, where one exists, cannot be compared with a custom EHS implementation without understanding included functions and work. Do not rely on historic government procurement documents as current Assure pricing; ask Evotix for a current UK quote.
Work out the internal cost too. Who will map processes, cleanse old incident data, configure roles and maintain forms? Who tests a workflow after a change? Who owns every overdue action? A product with many capabilities can be underused if the governance model is unclear. A simpler product may still require a separate system for an important function. The best value is the option that lets your people do the required work and retrieve reliable evidence at a sustainable total cost.
Decision framework
Choose Assure/Professional if your organisation needs Evotix's EHS breadth and a demonstration confirms the modules, controls and commercial terms fit. Consider Complys if your main problem is practical UK operational compliance across workers, contractors, documents and sites and its *live* implementation meets the scenario. Consider a RAMS specialist if risk and method documents dominate, or an inspection-led system if frontline inspection adoption is the priority. For a mixed estate, document which system owns each record and how changes move between them.
Start with the exact process you need to improve, invite two or three suppliers to run it end to end, and check the current contract. See Complys' UK software comparison for the broader market context. The manifest also specifies /compare; confirm its live canonical route before adding it. This guide's named-competitor query and task-level test distinguish it from the broad UK comparison owner, but unpublished/repository collision checks remain before publication.
