DDC Scaffolding

About DDC Scaffolding
DDC Scaffolding Ltd was founded in 2018 by Tim Wright to build a scaffolding company that contractors and homeowners across Devon and Cornwall could rely on. The company now operates as a 20-strong team from its yard at Buttlands Trading Estate in Ipplepen, near Newton Abbot, with daily reach across the South West.
The firm covers every scale of scaffolding work, from single chimney access for domestic re-roofing to complex commercial scaffolds with temporary roofs, gantries and structural shoring. Work is split across three main areas: domestic projects for homeowners and builders, commercial projects for main contractors and businesses, and industrial work deploying specialist access including Haki staircases, electric hoists and ginny wheels for heavier loads. DDC is also one of relatively few South West scaffolding firms to supply and fit its own 24/7 monitored scaffold alarms, protecting both scaffolds and buildings from unauthorised access on vacant commercial sites and listed buildings.
DDC holds comprehensive accreditations including CHAS Standard Certification, SMAS Worksafe SSIP accreditation, Constructionline Gold membership, SafeContractor approval, and assessed membership of the Scaffolding Association, backed by £10 million public liability insurance. These accreditations enable quick approval onto UK contractor supplier lists and provide documented competence with audit-ready paper trails for main contractors.
Reference projects include scaffolding at the new Aldi store in Exeter, where DDC worked directly with Network Rail to design and sign off risk assessments for track-adjacency zones, the Costa Coffee drive-through at Countess Wear, solar panel installation works at multiple commercial buildings, and Grade II listed HSBC bank refurbishments across the region where monitored alarms were a contractual security requirement. The company sponsors Torquay United Football Club.

Temporary loading bay and access scaffold for the new Costa Coffee drive-through at Countess Wear. Phased installation to fit the main contractor's programme.

Scaffold and hoist installation at an Exeter office building near the Shell garage at Countess Wear. Our hoist equipment was used to lift solar panels into final position.

Temporary roof, Totnes
Weatherproof temporary roof for a major refurbishment project in Totnes. Designed to span the property with no internal supports, keeping the construction work dry through winter.
What we do
Tube and fitting scaffolding
Traditional tube and fitting scaffolding for any shape or size of building. Bespoke designs for awkward access, listed buildings, and conservation properties.
Temporary roofs
Weatherproof temporary roofs for major refurbishment, re-roofing and restoration projects. Keeps work and materials dry through any UK weather.
Gantries and pavement licences
Pavement-level gantries for commercial frontages and pedestrian protection. We handle the council pavement licence application as part of the service.
Structural shoring and propping
Temporary shoring and propping for structural work, including dead shores, raking shores and needle beams. Designed in accordance with TG20 and bespoke calculations where needed.
Haki staircases
Industrial-grade Haki modular staircases for commercial sites where heavy worker traffic, equipment movement or emergency egress is required.
Scaffold alarms (24/7 monitored)
Battery-powered scaffold alarms with 24/7 ARC monitoring. Triggered by climbing attempts, building entry, or alarm tampering. Used on vacant commercial sites and listed buildings.
Electric hoists and ginny wheels
Goods hoists and lifting equipment fitted to scaffolds for moving materials between levels. Reduces manual handling and speeds up larger jobs.
Rail and infrastructure scaffolding
Scaffolding within Network Rail track-adjacency zones. We work with rail safety advisors to produce signed-off RAMS and meet adjacent-track infrastructure requirements.
