Current duties and 2027 preparation, kept separate
UK employers already have duties that apply now — issuing written terms, carrying out Right to Work checks, keeping payroll and working-time records, following fair disciplinary and grievance procedures, taking steps to prevent harassment, and recording training and competence. This checker gives you a readiness view across those areas, with the specific actions that usually follow.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 is enacted but is being brought into force in phases through regulations. The biggest changes — day-one unfair dismissal, zero-hours reforms, restrictions on fire-and-rehire and on confidentiality clauses — are expected in 2027, with the exact scope and dates set by regulations. This tool keeps those clearly separate as preparation, so nothing forthcoming is presented as a current duty.
