The five steps, done properly

What is a fire risk assessment?
A fire risk assessment is a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for almost all non-domestic premises in England and Wales. The responsible person must assess the fire risks, record the significant findings, and keep the assessment up to date. It follows the gov.uk five-step method.
Who is the responsible person?
The responsible person is the duty holder for the premises: usually the employer, the owner, or whoever is in control of the premises. They must ensure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is carried out and reviewed, and that the fire precautions it identifies are put in place.
How often should a fire risk assessment be reviewed?
Regularly, and at least annually for most premises. It must also be reviewed sooner whenever there is a significant change to the building, the way it is used, the number of people using it, or after a fire or near miss.
